Where our data comes from

The federal NPI registry (NPPES)

Names, credentials, taxonomy classifications, practice addresses, phone numbers and licence records come from NPPES, published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. We refresh the full file monthly and apply weekly updates.

CMS activity data

We cross-reference each record against Medicare utilisation and enrolment data to gauge whether a clinician is still practising. Records with no sign of recent activity are excluded or de-indexed. This is imperfect: cash-only and all-commercial practices are invisible in Medicare data.

Clinician-supplied profiles

Bios, rates, insurance, languages, prescribing stances and everything else on a claimed profile is written by the clinician. We never infer demographic or identity attributes.

Visitor contributions

On unclaimed listings only, and only for structured, checkable facts. Each is shown with the number of people who reported it. A single report is one person's experience, not a confirmed fact.
