The registry records no departures, which means the running total can only rise and neither chart should be read as net growth — a clinician who registered in 2019 and has since retired is simply absent from both. Nurse practitioners were 76% of new registrations in 2021 and 93% in 2025.

Who is practising, and for how long

796 of Georgia's psychiatric prescribers (28.1%) registered with the federal system in the last five years, and 176 in the last twelve months. 393 have been registered for more than twenty years. The nurse practitioner side is newer: 50.5% of psychiatric NPs registered in the last five years, against 6.2% of MD psychiatrists.

Of those who record a gender with the registry, 67% are women, split 87.7% among nurse practitioners and 47% among MD psychiatrists.
